The digital backbone that enables Mithra's work — secure systems, multilingual platforms, and shared infrastructure for communication, coordination, and knowledge.

The digital backbone that enables Mithra’s work — secure systems, multilingual platforms, and shared infrastructure for communication, coordination, and knowledge.

The backbone of the foundation

Mithra depends on strong digital infrastructure to operate securely and effectively. This is especially critical in the context of Iran, where surveillance, censorship, and cyber activity make digital safety essential rather than optional.

This pillar supports all other areas of the foundation.

Central platform

We are building a multilingual platform (Persian, Dutch, English) that serves as the main hub for all activities — including events, newsletters, volunteer sign-ups, resources, and the Free Iran Project.

An integrated volunteer system helps coordinate contributors, match skills with needs, and maintain long-term engagement across all activities.

We are also developing a secure, opt-in expert directory to connect journalists and institutions with credible Iranian and Iranian-Dutch voices.

Digital safety & secure communication

We prioritize secure communication tools and digital safety training for activists, partners, and diaspora members — including safe messaging, privacy practices, and protection against digital surveillance.

Digital security is a core part of protecting people who engage with Iran-related work.

Open knowledge

Reports, research, and data are shared through open-access platforms to support wider use by journalists, researchers, and partner organizations.

We also maintain collaborative knowledge systems where experts develop policy and transition-related ideas together.

Why it matters

Technology is not secondary — it is what makes everything else possible. It determines reach, safety, and impact.

This pillar ensures the foundation can operate securely, scale effectively, and stay connected across borders.
